Joint Projects

Collaborations between ELBO and Montair

Our teams and expertise complement each other, which has already led to the successful execution of several joint projects.
Below are three examples of previous collaborations between Montair Environmental Solutions and ELBO Solutions.

1. Successful installation of optical sorter in an existing production facility

Challenge: installation within a crowded environment

A producer of potato products wanted to expand their sorting line with a new optical sorter. This installation needed to be integrated into an already busy factory hall—a challenging task, especially within the tight timeframe of a scheduled plant shutdown.

Montair was commissioned to design and install the necessary piping. Working inside an existing factory hall presented additional challenges:

  • Limited space for installation work
  • Custom on-site solutions required due to unforeseen obstacles
  • Strict deadlines to ensure timely completion

Approach: 3D laser scan and prefabricated piping

To minimize risks, Montair, together with ELBO, conducted a detailed 3D laser scan of the installation environment. This technology allowed them to:

  • Create an exact digital map of the environment
  • Design and prefabricate piping in detail

Thanks to this preparation, assembly proceeded without improvisation—even within the tight schedule of the plant shutdown.

2. Optimization in an ATEX environment: precision work in a complex pharmaceutical facility

Challenge: working in an ATEX-classified Area

A pharmaceutical manufacturer wanted to improve a critical production area. In this environment, where hazardous substances are handled, safety and precision are paramount. The challenge was further increased by:

  • A complex piping network spread over three levels
  • Non-uniform reactors requiring custom solutions
  • Limited time windows during plant shutdowns

Approach: 3D scanning and custom solutions

Montair collaborated closely with ELBO and implemented an advanced 3D scanning strategy. This resulted in a detailed digital representation of the facility, enabling:

  • Precise custom design of buffer tanks and piping
  • Efficient expansion of complex headers and subheaders

Additionally, on-site assembly was fast and without improvisation, preventing time losses during plant shutdowns.

3. Replacement of gravity tank at German chemical manufacturer: efficient two-phase project

Challenge: replacing a worn-out tank

At a German chemical plant, an old gravity tank needed to be replaced. This tank played a crucial role in wastewater separation but was no longer suitable for modern processes. The project faced specific challenges:

  • Limited space due to fixed elements on site
  • Precise coordination required due to complex environmental factors
  • Tight phasing, divided over several plant shutdowns

Approach: phased execution and 3D planning

Montair and ELBO joined forces for an efficient approach:

  • Detailed 3D laser scanning of the site
  • Early identification of potential obstacles
  • Prefabrication of the new GRP tank and related components

The project was executed in two phases:

  • Phase 1: Placement of the new tank at a temporary location and preparation for connection
  • Phase 2: Relocation to the final site after removal of the old tank
